Introduction

Eurostar is the high speed rail service directly linking the United Kingdom (UK) to France and Belgium via the channel tunnel. It started operating in 1994, providing city centre to city centre services. By December 2002, Eurostar carried over 45 million people since operations were launched. Eurostar operates a non smoking policy on all trains.

Eurostar Train

The Eurostar train consists of:

1. A fleet of 27 trains, total capacity of 766 seats per train

2. 1/4 mile (393 meters long)

3. Top speed 186 mph/300 kmh

4. Frequency of services, up to 16 trains a day to Paris and up to eight trains a day to Brussels

5. Daily service to Marne La Vallee - Chessy

Baggage

Free Baggage Allowance - Two pieces plus one piece of hand baggage.

Excess - Registered Baggage:

  • Up to three additional pieces of baggage or larger items are carried as registered baggage between London and Paris/Brussels only.

  • Suitcases, bags, trunks, etc. (up to 30kg) - GBP12 per item

  • Sporting and collectors weapons - GBP12

  • Bicycles - GBP20

  • Large musical instruments, surfboards, etc. - GBP20

  • Registered baggage is not guaranteed to be carried on the same train but will arrive within 24 hours.

Baggage can be registered up to ten days before travel or day of travel. Items are available for collection at destination station within 24 hours from registration.


Restricted Items (Eurostar cannot accept):

  • Animals (excluding guide dogs)

  • Any items exceeding two metres in length

  • Bulky or excessively heavy articles (over 30kg)

  • Offensive weapons, explosives, inflammable substances or articles, oxidizing, toxic, radioactive or corrosive substances, or substances that malodorous or likely to cause infection

  • All products classified as non-prescription drugs, narcotics, and all other illegal or dangerous substances or goods.

Trolleys/Carts
- Coin operated baggage trolleys available at all main Eurostar terminals. Can be taken through check-in gates and on escalators to the train.


Left Luggage and Lost Property

Left luggage facilities are available at Waterloo International, Paris Gare Du Nord, Brussels MIDI-ZUID and Paris Marne La Vallee Chessy. Operating times and charges vary.
All non-perishable lost property items are kept for 28 days. Collection and/or storage charges may apply. A postal fee is payable to all lost property offices where appropriate.

Check-In and Security

Procedure

Passengers holding airline tickets should arrive at the train terminal no later than one hour prior to departure. Where passengers should proceed to the ticket desk to exchange their airline coupon for a Eurostar ticket before proceeding to the check-in gates.

As there are no ticket exchange facilities at Marne La Vallee - Chessy (Disneyland), passengers commencing travel on Eurostar must exchange their airline coupon at Paris (Gare Du Nord).


Security

Passengers and baggage is subject to security checks at check-in. Restricted items such as sharp objects, CS Gas Sprays, Firearms and all other offensive weapons will be removed.

There are four classes of service for Eurostar:

Castle Class (Marne La Vallee - Chessy)

The Castle Class offers:

  • Greater comfort in a spacious environment
  • Extra wide reclining seats, which have generous leg room
  • More family oriented areas with a fixed table
  • Complimentary snack and cold beverage served at seat

First Class

The First Class includes:

  • All routes except Marne La Vallee - Chessy available to passengers holding airline first and business class fares only.

  • Fully air conditioned and non-smoking carriages.

  • Complimentary meal with beverages, wine, and soft drinks served at seat.

  • Complimentary newspapers and magazines.

  • Wide reclining seats with generous leg room with either an individual slide-out table or a fixed table shared with adjacent passengers.

  • A dedicated ticket desk facility for business passengers is available at Waterloo and Paris Gare Du Nord.

Premium First (London/Paris Route Only)

This class is available to passengers holding airline first and business class fares only.

As first class plus additional benefits:

  • Automatic access to executive lounges (go to terminals)
  • Complimentary executive car service available to/from Paris and London Waterloo only
  • From Paris Gare Du Nord to all central Paris
  • Arrondissements and La Defense destinations passengers are met by a driver at the end of the platform

Passengers are met by the driver in the arrivals hall, immediately after exiting the customs area. Bookings can be made at departure station, in executive lounges or the information desk at Ashford International Departure Hall.

A voucher, to be used as payment, is given to the passenger on production of his or her ticket. Meals are served on china crockery with full size cutlery and are accompanied by a choice of complimentary wines and champagne served from the bottle. A bar service including hot beverages is available throughout the journey.

Standard Class

This class is available to passengers holding economy class fares only. Comfortable seats each with an individual, slide-out table, or a fixed table shared with adjacent passengers, fully air conditioned, and nonsmoking carriages.

Customs and Immigration

Controls by HM Customs take place at Waterloo and Ashford. There are no red-green channels and passengers are requested to declare an dutiable goods on arrival. Customs checks by French/Belgian authorities can also be carried out at Paris-Brussels respectively. Passengers must have a valid full passport plus any applicable Visas when traveling to all Eurostar destinations.

Disneyland® Paris

Eurostar operates direct services from London Waterloo International and Ashford International to Marne La Vallee - Chessy Station, right at the gates of Disneyland Paris. The direct service operates daily.

The Disney Touch includes:

  • Jazz band creating a festive atmosphere at Waterloo International terminal in the departure lounge

Ticketing and Fares

Applicable to U.S. IATA agents only - Eurostar is a member of the Airline Reporting Corporation (ARC) in the US and the accounting code is 814. Eurostar has a full Tariff of point to point fares filed through the Airline Tariff Publishing Company (ATPCO). These fares can be accessed via the fares pages of the individual Global Distribution System and ticketed on Eurostar paper.


Fare Types / Basis Economy and Business:


1. Day Return Fare - VPXRT1D  and  IPXRT1D

2. Return Excursion Fares - VPXRT,  QPXRTNPXRTKEERTHEERTIPXRT,  and ZPXRT

3. One Way Excursion Fares - KPXOW,  BOX,  DPXOW DOX,  and COX

4. Unrestricted Yearly Fares - YOW  and  JOW

5. Paris Route Only Unrestricted First Class - FOW

No discounts are permitted on the above mentioned fares. However, Eurostar fare range include:

1. Unrestricted child fare for economy and business - YCHOW  and  JCHOW

2. Restricted youth fares economy and business - VZZOW,  NZZOW,  IZZOW,  and  ZZZOW

3. Restricted senior citizen fare economy and business - KCDOW  and  DCDOW

Meals

Castle Class (Marne La Vallee - Chessy)

All First Class equivalent passengers are served a meal box with a cold snack and beverages served at seat.


First Class

Meals served reflect a range of international dishes and are appropriate to the time of day:

1. Breakfast - Choice of hot or continental. Served on all trains departing up to 1100.

2. Lunch - Three course meal with a choice of two main dishes. Served on all trains departing between 1100 and 1400.

3. Afternoon Meal - Three-course meal consisting of a starter, a light hot main course, and pastries served with tea/coffee. Served on all trains departing between 1400 and 1700.

4. Dinner - Three-course meal with a choice of two main dishes. Served on all trains departing after 1700.


Premium First

1. Breakfast - Choice of Hot or Continental. Served on all trains departing prior to 1100.

2. Lunch - Four course meal with a choice of two main dishes served on all trains departing between 1100 and 1400.

3. Afternoon Meal - Four course meal consisting of starter, a light hot main course, and pastries served with tea/coffee. Served on all trains departing between 1400 and 1700.

4. Dinner - Four course meal with a choice of three main dishes. Served on all trains departing after 1700.


Standard Class

Two bar buffet cars in coaches six and 13, offering hot and cold snacks plus a fully licensed bar.

Terminals and Stations

Ashford International Terminal

A purpose-built Eurostar station that is exceptionally convenient for passengers living in the southeast including Kent, Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, and Essex.

How to get to and from Ashford International:
1. By Car - Excellent links via the M25 and the M20 approximately 10 minutes drive from junction 10 of M20 Ashford International has 2000 parking spaces.

2. By Train - Served by rail links from Kent and Sussex with a connecting subway between the International and Mainline Stations.


Brussels-MIDI/ZUID Terminal

A dedicated terminal within the Brussels-MIDI/ZUID station.

How to get to and from Brussels Centre:
1. By Bus - A number of routes serve the station.

2. By Metro or Tram - Direct connections via several lines. Journey time approximately ten minutes.

3. By Taxi - Taxis are available, outside the station.

4. By Train - Served by local, suburban, and international services, including the "Thalys" high speed train that links Brussels, Paris, Holland, and Cologne.


Marne La Vallee - Chessy Station

A new station combining TGV and Eurostar facilities, giving direct access to Disneyland Paris.

How to get to and from Marne La Vallee-Chessy Station:
By Train - rer line a from Paris to Marne La Vallee, 100 metres from the gates of Disneyland Resort Paris. Journey time is 35 minutes.


Paris Gare Du Nord Terminal

Located on the first floor of the Gare Du Nord Station.

How to get to and from Paris Gare Du Nord:
1. By Bus - A number of routes serve the Gare Du Nord.

2. By Car - The Gare Du Nord car park has over 2000 parking spaces.

3. By Metro - rer Suburban Rail Services Metro Lines.

4. By Taxi - A taxi rank is situated on the ground floor of the station. Premium first passengers can pre-book an executive car in the Salon Eurostar to be met on arrival.

5. By Train - Mainline services serve cities such as Amiens, Amsterdam, Cologne, and Brussels.


Waterloo International Terminal

A purpose-built facility dedicated solely to Eurostar, adjacent to the mainline Waterloo Domestic Rail and London Underground Stations.

How to get to and from Waterloo International:
1. By Bus - Contact London Transport on 020 7222 1234 for full details of the numerous bus routes that serve Waterloo Station.

2. By Car - There are passenger set-down points outside both the International Terminal and Mainline Station. Limited short-term parking is available at the terminal including dedicated car parking spaces for disabled passengers.

3. By Taxi - A Taxi rank is situated adjacent to the arrivals area at Waterloo International Terminal.

4. By Train - Waterloo Mainline Domestic and Waterloo East stations are served by numerous services from Kent, Surrey, Hampshire, Berkshire, Wiltshire, Dorset, and Devon and South Wales.

5. By Underground - Direct connections from the Bakerloo, Northern, Jubilee, and Waterloo and city lines.


Station Amenities

Toilets, souvenir shops, Bureau De Change, Newsagents, Cafes and/or Sandwich shops, available at all stations.


Executive Lounges

Passengers holding First and Business class tickets have access to the executive lounges.


Lounge Benefits - London

Complimentary drinks and snacks, complimentary newspapers and magazines, access to Internet, TV screens, mobile phone battery charging stations, massage chair, and toilets. Total capacity is 140 seats.


Lounge Benefits - Paris

Complimentary drinks and snacks, complimentary newspapers and magazines, TV screens, toilets, access to Internet, and massage chair available shortly. Total capacity is 185 seats.


Lounge Benefits - Brussels

Complimentary drinks and snacks, complimentary newspapers and magazines, TV screens, toilets, access to Internet, and access to massage chairs available soon. Total capacity is 84 seats.

Minors

Baby Facilities

Baby changing rooms are located at the end of coaches 1 and 18. Bar buffet staff will warm bottles on request.


Unaccompanied Minors

Eurostar does not operate an unaccompanied minor service.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by a competent person over the age of 18. Children under 12 cannot travel alone.

Minors aged 12-17 can travel alone provided they have a full, valid passport issued in their own name and are in possession of a handwritten letter of consent from a parent or guardian, witnessed by an official person. The letter of consent must be handed to a member of Eurostar staff at check-in.

Special Needs and Assistance

Eurostar is dedicated to providing the highest level of service for all its passengers including those who require additional facilities and services. Both Waterloo and Ashford International Terminals include:

  • Coloured markers on pillars and other obstacles
  • Lifts with controls at wheelchair height and in braille
  • Ramps for level changes with handrails and intermediate landings
  • Tactile surfaces to alert the visually impaired and partially sighted to platform edges


Blind Persons and Guide Dogs

Guide dogs are now accepted on board Eurostar trains.


Disabled Toilets

Located in First Class coaches 9 and 10, each is fitted with a "call for aid" button. Toilets for disabled passengers with a "call for aid" button are also available in the departure lounges at Waterloo and Ashford International Stations.


Wheelchairs

Two designated areas in coaches 9 and 10 are for wheelchair users and companions fitted with a "call for aid" button. These areas offer wheelchair users the option to stay in their chair should they wish and must be used if passengers are unable to walk at least 200m unaided. Please note the designated wheelchair spaces are for use by passengers who have their own wheelchair.

Eurostar door widths are as follows:

  • Toilet: 522mm / Exit Door: 850mm
  • Disabled Persons Toilet: 720mm


Special Assistance

Assistance is available for wheelchair users, passengers with restricted mobility and other special needs assistance should be requested in person on the day of travel at the assistance desk.
